Bonus terms checklist

Most complaints about casino promotions come down to one thing: a rule that wasn’t obvious before the player opted in. This short checklist is what our editors run through every time we review an offer, so you can do the same in a couple of minutes.

Before you opt in

  • Wagering requirement. The multiplier you need to bet through before any bonus winnings can be withdrawn. Lower is friendlier. Confirm whether it applies to the bonus only or to deposit plus bonus.
  • Eligible games. Slots usually count 100% toward wagering; live dealer and table games often count much less, or not at all.
  • Maximum bet rule. Many bonuses cap your individual stake (often around £5) while wagering. Going over this can void the bonus, even by accident.
  • Time limit. Bonuses usually expire if not wagered within a fixed period — sometimes 7 days, sometimes 30.
  • Maximum win cap. Some bonuses cap how much you can withdraw from bonus winnings, regardless of what you actually win.
  • Payment method exclusions. A handful of operators exclude e-wallets or specific cards from bonus eligibility.
  • Country and account restrictions. Confirm the offer is available to UK accounts and not just to first registrations.

Once you’ve opted in

  • Note the start date and end date of the bonus.
  • Keep an eye on your remaining wagering progress — UK operators must show it.
  • Stick to the eligible game list. If unsure, check the offer terms again.
  • Don’t exceed the maximum stake while wagering.
  • Use deposit or session limits to stay inside your own budget.

Quick warning signs

  • The promotion page has no link to the full terms.
  • Wagering is quoted without specifying bonus or bonus+deposit.
  • The eligible games list is hidden behind a long PDF.
  • There is no clear way to opt out of an active bonus.
